Part of being a good home inspector is continuing to learn new things. New building practices, updated codes and changing products in the industry make continuing education a must. This week, all NEV-CAL Inspectors took a course in “Residential Garage Door and Opener Inspections” presented by Mike Reynolds of D & D Overhead Door in Reno, Nevada. In this course we were refreshed on both the basics of what should be checked when inspecting overhead garage doors and openers, but we were also updated on new products and installation practices for today’s new garage doors and openers. As garage doors can often be one of the heaviest regally used appliance in a home, safety of installation and ongoing maintenance is a must to avoid damage to life or property. NEV-CAL Inspection reports will continue to provide comprehensive inspections of overhead garage doors and openers based on the latest inspection guidelines for home inspectors.
